Protest in Berlin: Revolutionary Left Raises Its Voice Against the Terror and Crimes of the “Thermidorian Authority” Against Women

In a firm affirmation of our unwavering commitment to the victims of oppression and tyranny, members of the Revolutionary Left Current in Syria participated in a protest in Berlin on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in front of the German Federal Foreign Office. This action was taken to break the imposed wall of silence, in solidarity with the Alawite women facing systematic abduction and abuse, and in rejection of attempts to cover up the violence perpetrated by the militias of the “Thermidorian Authority” that has seized power in Damascus.

A comrade who participated in the protest stated to Al-Khat Al-Amami:

“Our participation in this protest stems from our principles, which know no neutrality in the face of sectarian terror. Just as we confronted the criminality of the Assad dynastic regime that starved the people and crushed their aspirations, we stand firmly today against this authority. In its first year, it has proven to be “Thermidorian” par excellence, feeding on the blood of Syrians and employing social violence and sectarian incitement to consolidate its rule, just as it does when terrorizing religious and ethnic minorities.

Our literature, particularly in The Syrian Thermidor, has warned that the seizure of power by these forces would not bring a ‘democratic transition,’ but would produce a regime characterized by its degradation in upholding rights, practicing systematic violence to terrorize the masses who once rose for freedom and dignity. Covering up the abduction of women and the violation of their safety is not merely a matter of ‘isolated incidents,’ as the cheap mouthpieces of this authority claim; it is a systematic policy aimed at subjugating the Syrian people and reproducing the instruments of tyranny.

We, in the Revolutionary Left Current, renew our pledge to the Syrian masses everywhere: we will remain the voice of the voiceless, and we will remain at the forefront of the struggle against sectarian and chauvinist Thermidorianism. We call upon all democratic and social forces to close ranks in united fronts to overthrow this authority and continue the path toward a decentralized democratic republic based on equality and social justice.”
