Frequently asked questions

Who is the Revolutionary Left movement in Syria?

It is a revolutionary socialist organization based on the revolutionary legacy of the International Workers ‘ Struggle and the radical left in Syria.

How we started?

We started as a group of leftists who formed with the beginning of the protests in mid-March 2011 what was known as the ” committee to support the Syrian uprising”, which carried out important activities and issued its first statement inذار March, discussions took place in the committee, during which part of its members advocated that the Revolutionary Left have an organized framework and a view on the revolution, while others saw the need to engage in the opposition structures that were in their beginnings.

The part calling for the organized work of the Revolutionary Left put forward a document for wide discussion, which ended with the adoption of a program document entitled ” The transitional program of the revolutionary left in Syria”, which was publicly published in mid-October of the year ٢٠١١ in conjunction with the announcement of the formation of the “Revolutionary Left current in Syria”, and during this period the comrades and comrades involved in this process were participating in the revolutionary movement of demonstrations, coordination, organizing assistance to the displaced and other activities that the revolution witnessed.

At the beginning of 2012, the stream became its own newspaper ” front line” and issued a number of brochures.

What do we differ from the official Communist and leftist movement?

Unlike the official Communist and leftist movement, the Revolutionary Left current is characterized by its internationalist affiliation, its hostility to Stalinism and its refusal to consider the countries that were called socialist as such, but were states of various forms of state capitalist systems. Most importantly, the Revolutionary Left believes in socialism from below to build the power of the workers and toilers and in the necessity of building the revolutionary and mass Workers ‘ Party.

Reform or revolution?

What we are witnessing confirms that the slightest reform needs a revolution, so we say that we are not against reforms, which improve the conditions for the struggle of the toilers, but we are against reformism as a political current working to perpetuate the capitalist system.

Therefore, we believe in the necessity of a mass revolution from below to liberate society, the whole of society, and unite it .The only revolutionary social class eligible for this is the working and wage class, with all the victims of exploitation and oppression.  Finally, we do not believe that it is possible to build socialism in one country, and the experiences of history have proved this.

A revolution through stages or a permanent revolution?

In the Revolutionary Left current, we adopt the concept of permanent revolution, that is, the desired social revolution rests on the shoulders of achieving complex tasks: National, Democratic and social, and its survival will depend on the spread of the revolutionary flame at the regional and global levels.

What about our current activity?

Despite the terrible deterioration of the situation inside Syria, we are still active inside the country. The conditions of the Comrades ‘ places of residence vary. We also have a presence in the diaspora.

We work patiently and selflessly, and call for building united fronts with the Revolutionary Democratic Forces on common issues.

We bear in mind the importance and necessity of continuing the work on building the Revolutionary Party.  And for those interested in getting to know us more, we invite them to follow our pages on social networking sites . And the current website on the internet and follow-up to our newspaper ” front line” and the pamphlets of the Revolutionary Left current available on the site. We also invite you to communicate directly with our friends on social networking sites or in your neighborhood.

Capitalism works in the interests of the privileged few and against the interests of the toiling majority

The capitalist system is essentially based on exploitation and the plundering of surplus value from the working and toiling masses. The great wealth of the rich comes from the toil, sweat and misery of the poor.

In our world, wealth accumulates on one side, poverty, hunger and disease on the other.

Neoliberalism, which Syria is applying with unparalleled zeal, is the most barbaric form of capitalism in the Twenty-First Century. They are a product of the crisis of the earnings system, an attempt to shift the crisis to the poor.

Capitalism cannot be reformed from within

Reformist ideas still have a wide market. Many are talking about change through some reforms here or there. But we know that the era of reforms is over. The very word “reform ” was hijacked by the most expensive capitalists, on their hands it came to mean the barbarism of the market, the abolition of subsidies and the lifting of state protection.

Therefore, those who advocate reform only beautify the existing system and give it a chance to survive. Even the simplest reforms need a revolution in order to achieve them. In the past, rising capitalism gave land to those who cultivated it. Today it is snatching land from the peasants to give it to the big monopoly capitalists. Only a mass revolution from below can restore the land to those who toil in it.. Only a mass revolution from below can realize the hopes of the oppressed.

Mass revolution from below is possible and necessary:

Change cannot happen at the hands of a select minority. Change cannot happen by coups of palaces, armies or by the arrival of a just autocrat to power. Change will only happen at the hands of the masses. The mass democratic struggle of the masses from below is the way to the future. If capitalism possesses a state apparatus that monopolizes the weapons of repression, the toilers possess their ability to struggle as an overwhelming majority that has its interest in eliminating the system of exploitation and oppression.

The toilers have the ability to operate the machine of capitalist exploitation, and therefore the ability to stop it and start building a new world. The revolution is the culmination of the mass struggle from below. The revolution is the rise of the toilers to the forefront of the stage of history .. They are taking their fate into their own hands .. It is the beginning of the road to a new future free from oppression and exploitation.

The working class is the leading Class of the revolutionary struggle:

There is no doubt that the revolution will be a holiday for all the poor. But of all the oppressed in our modern world, there is one class that has the ability to lead the camp of the oppressed to victory-the working class. The working class as we understand it is not only factory workers, but all wage workers who are under the control and authority of capital, whether their work is in a factory or in any other production or service enterprise.

That class, with its enormous size in our modern world, with its organization, modernity and interests, is able to enter the battle to the end, is able to immobilize capitalism and the source of its profits, and then it is able to bring victory to the camp of the oppressed. The shackles of capitalism must be broken where they exist: in the system of exploitation of wage labor.

The state of workers and toilers is the desired goal

The revolution will not be crowned with victory if one capitalist ruler is removed and replaced by another capitalist ruler. The victory has only one meaning: the end of all forms of exploitation, oppression and tyranny. Therefore, the goal of the revolution should be to destroy the capitalist state apparatus and replace it with a workers ‘ democracy, the like of which is all the experiences of the revolutions of the twentieth century, the most important of which are the Paris Commune and the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917.

The workers ‘state is a state of direct democracy where the toilers, through their workers’ councils elected at every location and place, participate in self-determination and in the management of society with its resources and wealth.

The revolution must liberate all the oppressed and oppressed:

اA revolution is not a partial action. Revolution is not a limited task. Revolution is a total and total liberation. The victorious workers ‘ struggle must embrace the interests of all the oppressed. All the tools of dividing the working class between men and women, blacks and whites, Muslims and Christians, must be resolutely confronted.

The only way to this is the struggle of the revolutionary movement for the liberation of women, blacks, Christians and oppressed nations from all forms of injustice, oppression and domination. A true socialist is a servant of all the oppressed. True socialism is the one that liberates all the oppressed.

There is no socialism in one country:

The capitalist system is one regular chain in one global market. Machining the chain can be broken at one of its loops. But the task will be accomplished only by breaking the whole chain. Therefore, the world revolution is not a luxury or an additional work.

The world revolution is the core of the victorious revolutionary strategy. The spread of the revolution, the basis of the possibility of which is the unity of the world and the unity of its crisis, must be an original goal of any local revolutionary struggle. Revolutionary internationalism is the only logical response to the plans of the world’s governing bodies at the summit of the eight, at the World Trade Organization and other world capitalist institutions.

A struggling Labour Party is a necessity for change:

Revolution is not a picnic. The ruling class is unified and organized. The state apparatus represents a mind and a high-level administrative apparatus through which rulers manage their affairs. The toiling masses, therefore, need a mind, a memory, and an organ of organization implanted in them that will guide their movement and stand against the inequalities of their consciousness and the oscillations of their movement.

A Labour Party that IS militant and understands the experience of history and the experience of its class can carry out this task. This party does not fall from the sky. This party is built by struggle, patience andwork. Building it should be the goal of every fighter for justice and freedom .. For socialism.

The battle is not easy, but today it is possible:

Undoubtedly, our modern world holds great opportunities for fighters for justice and freedom. We are living in an era of polarization at its highest. Neoliberalism is beginning to reveal its ugly face. Post-Cold War imperialism has revealed its fangs. All the illusions of the early nineties began to dissipate: the imperialist peace was in vain, capitalist stability lost its meaning, the Tigers began to suffer crises, the oil boom was fading. On the other hand, today we see the resounding rise of anti-capitalist globalization and anti-war movements in a meditative synergy with the rise of Valiant national liberation movements.

The Middle East is an arena not only for neoliberalism and neocapitalism in all its barbarism, but also for strengthening the hegemony of American imperialism globally. This part of the world is boiling and waiting for change on the hottest of coals.

Only those who cannot see will deny that the region is prone to earthquakes. The mass struggle from below, and socialism as an alternative, must carve out for themselves a path and a path. This is possible. It is also necessary. His police will engage in every battle and raise the banner of liberation in every arena and field.

Martyrs of the party

Stories of those who preceded us on the path of struggle

قصة استشهاد أحمد ورامي:

The story of the martyrdom of comrades Ahmed and Rami:

The two comrades, Ahmed and Rami, are heroes of the people’s liberation factions, who we chose to commemorate their martyrdom on this revolutionary leftist martyr’s day, and the party has not disclosed their records for security reasons until today.

On April 12, 2014, a unit of the people’s liberation forces attempted to redeploy in Hama governorate in support of the Free Army in repelling the attacks of the thuggish regime on Aleppo.

When they were stopped at a checkpoint belonging to the al-Nusra Front, they asked them to hand over those who were from religious and ethnic minorities with them, and our comrades categorically refused this.

After the members of the checkpoint pointed their weapons at our fighters and fired in their direction, a violent clash broke out between them and the checkpoint, three of them and our fighters were killed, comrades Rami and Ahmed were martyred, and a third comrade was injured.

قصة استشهاد الرفيق أبو يزن

The story of the martyrdom of Comrade Abu Yazan:

Comrade Abu Yazan we will not mention his full name in order to protect his children, his wife and his family from the oppression of the militias of the junta regime, which he was forced to wear his uniform forcibly and by force . Comrade Abu Yazan refused to join the regime forces when he was asked to join them and went into hiding for a long period of months.

On June 10, he was arrested after he was caught at a checkpoint of the junta army and was thrown into the detention to be immediately sorted out and deliberately sent from prison to inevitable death at one of the hottest combat points.

Our comrade Abu Yazan was martyred in the first clash with the fascist ISIS militia on the first Friday of August 2014.

قصة استشهاد الرفيق سالم السبسبي تحت التعذيب

The story of the martyrdom of Comrade Salem Al-Sibbi:

Comrade Salem Khalaf Al-Sibbi, born in Daraa governorate in 1960, finished studying at the Institute of communications in 1980, married with four sons, an employee of the communications institution in Daraa, was arrested by the criminals of Branch 215 on 14/4/2012, and remained there until he died under torture on 19/5/2012.

On 14/4/2012, comrade Salem Khalaf Al-Sibbi was arrested by a military security patrol in place of his son Ayham, who was hiding until he turned himself in, and was sent to Branch 215 in Damascus.

There, on May 19, in the hall where they put more than 800 detainees, he did not know about the possibility of the place, and his mental health began to worsen, starting with a headache and then a cramp in his right hand, after which it developed into a general cramp with nosebleeds.

His colleagues shouted to the jailer that Salem was dying, so he was one of his jailers, but he was beaten unconscious and then died half an hour later on the evening of 19/5/2012. His body has not been delivered as of today.

Glory and immortality to our fellow martyrs, shame and shame to murderers and criminals.
