The Revolutionary Left Party in Syria condemns the attacks witnessed in the city of Al-Suqaylabiyah. It considers them an extension of a systematic repressive approach practiced by the de facto authority—the remnants of Al-Qaeda led by Al-Jolani and HTS—which has reproduced the same tools of tyranny and violence used by the defunct ruling clique regime, despite differing slogans.
What happened is not an isolated incident but occurs within the context of an authoritarian structure based on terrorism and the subjugation of society by force of arms, while enshrining impunity. This is accompanied by this authority’s endeavor to impose an ideological division among Syrians, escaping the essence of the class struggle. Here, the country is reduced to a reality controlled by an armed minority over Syria’s resources, against an impoverished majority stripped of its will.
In this framework, the Party warns against being dragged into civil violence, which is fueled directly or indirectly through inciting discourse and practices that push toward internal clashes to serve the stabilization of control and the reproduction of hegemony. Social division is not destiny; it is a tool used by these authorities to weaken any possibility of independent popular action.
Furthermore, the Party categorically rejects the policy of disinformation and the inversion of truths practiced by the authority, its media arms, and its sycophants. Attempts to justify attacks through narratives that criminalize victims and present them as aggressors are repeated, reflecting the authority’s inability to face people’s demands or acknowledge its responsibilities.
We affirm our full support for the popular protests against the authority’s criminality, which broke out in Al-Suqaylabiyah and several Syrian cities. We support the right of Syrians to peaceful demonstration and sit-ins as legitimate means to defend dignity and rights and to break the silence imposed by force.
We call for the strengthening of independent political organization and the building of collective frameworks capable of confronting repression, unifying people’s demands away from imposed sectarian or ethnic alignments. This paves the way for a democratic alternative that expresses the interests of the Syrian people.
Facing tyranny, in whatever form or slogan, requires awareness, organization, and a collective will that rejects both oppression and civil violence, opening a horizon for true change based on freedom and justice.
