To our Alawite people in the Syrian coast and inland, in Latakia, Tartus, Homs, Hama, and to all our oppressed people, to every free person who rejects injustice and tyranny:
Since the recent wave of violence, we have witnessed a dangerous escalation of repression and sectarianism: killing, kidnapping, intimidation, arbitrary arrests, and systematic violations against innocent citizens, all under the watch and complicity of an authority that raises slogans of “security” while leaving people prey to chaos and violence, to various sectarian and criminal gangs, and to the militias of the authority itself.
The right to strike, to peaceful protest, and to express popular anger is not a favor from anyone, but rather inherent rights of the people and a moral and political duty. The strike constitutes a tool of peaceful resistance against the brutality of the authority and its gangs, and it also challenges the logic of the false legitimacy imposed by force.
Therefore, we immediately call for:
- Field, political, and media solidarity with our Alawite people in the coast and inland Syria, and confronting all attempts at systematic distortion.
- Encouraging peaceful protests and popular strikes as a genuine mass means to defend rights, organize popular work, protect citizens, and wrestle for services, justice, and security.
- Popular unity: There is no security or dignity without the unity of the Syrian masses in confronting tyranny, and overcoming all sectarian, national, and regional divisions.
- Documentation and accountability: Recording testimonies, monitoring violations, and transferring evidence to human rights and syndicate bodies to expose and hold accountable those responsible for crimes of murder and kidnapping.
We warn against any attempts by the authority and its followers to drag the masses into bloody clashes that are exploited to justify fiercer repression. Our true strength lies in organization, in peaceful popular protests, and in forming civil protection committees capable of defending protesters and protecting neighborhoods.
The freedom and dignity of the people are not a grant, but are seized through the consciousness, struggle, and organization of the masses. Our solidarity today with the Alawites in the coast and inland Syria is not a passing or isolated event, but a pivotal station in the process of the struggle of the Syrian masses for their liberation, and a test of the credibility of political and social forces. Let us all stand with the people, not with the executioners — steadfastly and decisively, with conscious organization, and with historical responsibility.
Glory to the victims of repression, tyranny, and exploitation,
All wealth and power to the people,
