While the Thermidorian authority in Damascus continues its attempts to force surrender upon Syrians through siege and fire, the heroes of our Kurdish people in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo are writing a new epic of steadfastness. What is happening today is not merely a military confrontation, but a loud declaration of refusal to surrender to the “cartel” of militias and the ruling clique’s gangs, which have brought nothing but ruin and dependency to the country.
We, in the Revolutionary Left Party in Syria, affirm the following positions:
- The Heroic Resistance: The stand of ordinary people against the hordes of the hired sectarian authority is a badge of honor on the banners of freedom and dignity. This resistance is the natural response to an authority that has invested in blood and division to ensure its survival.
- Demographic Change: Attempts to displace Kurds from Aleppo toward North and East Syria are not merely security measures, but a systematic crime of “demographic change” aimed at drawing forced ethnic and sectarian borders. This policy serves projects of partition and the fragmentation of the Syrian social fabric for the benefit of occupying powers and the patrons of the ruling clique.
- The Sea of Blood: A “sea of blood” that cannot be crossed now separates the massacre-committing authority in Damascus from the vast majority of our people, across all ethnic and social components. The survival of this clique, which controls wealth and power, represents the primary obstacle to any democratic future for Syria.
- Unity of Struggle: The battle of Sheikh Maqsoud is an integral part of the struggle of all the oppressed in Syria. Our only salvation lies in overcoming the divisions fueled by imperialist powers and their regional sponsors, and in rallying around the option of independent popular resistance until the establishment of a decentralized democratic republic.
We salute the steadfastness of our people in Sheikh Maqsoud, and we see in their firmness an embodiment of the will of Syrians to determine their own destiny, away from the guardianship of sectarian militias or suspicious international deals.
Long live the resistance of the Kurdish people against tyranny and displacement! No to demographic change! Yes to the unity of the struggle of the oppressed! Shame to the authority of massacres… and victory to the revolution!
