Statement on the Crime of Bombing the Imam Ali bin Abi Talib Mosque in Wadi al-Dahab, Homs

The Revolutionary Left Party condemns the heinous crime that targeted a mosque of the Alawite community in the city of Homs, claiming the lives and wounding dozens of innocent civilians. We consider this an additional sectarian political crime aimed at breaking society through blood, reproducing fear and terror as a tool of governance, and tearing the social fabric apart on sectarian and ethnic bases.

This bombing is not a fleeting event, but a link in a long, year-long chain of an ongoing genocidal violent path since the Thermidorian authority took power—a power based on sectarian militias fueled by hatred and sectarian violence, and supported by a mob thirsty for blood.

The Thermidorian authority has established its rule on organized violence against sects and ethnicities, based on genocidal massacres as occurred against Alawites and Druze, and on the continuation of indiscriminate killing, kidnapping, terrorism, and sectarian incitement. It is managed with full consciousness to drown society in the logic of civil division and strip it of any capacity for collective action. The targeting of Alawites today, as others were targeted before, exposes the nature of this Thermidorian project, which survives only by tearing society apart through sectarianism and chauvinism as a basis for staying in power.

The Revolutionary Left Party affirms that confronting the Thermidorian authority and its disastrous policies requires political organization and popular struggle in all locations and the unification of its arenas. Our battle today is a battle over consciousness, over the ability to organize, and over reclaiming politics and the masses from the hands of killers, liberating them from the grip of the Thermidorian authority and its sectarian militias.

The blood of the martyrs and the wounded in Homs is not material for lamentation, but an open call to rebuild organized revolutionary action for freedom, dignity, social justice, and the unity of the laborers.
