The German capital, Berlin, witnessed one of the largest demonstrations in months today, as tens of thousands took to the streets to reject the brutal attacks on the Gaza Strip and to demand an end to the blockade imposed upon it.
The march started in the afternoon from Alexanderplatz towards Großer Stern, where the event concluded with revolutionary speeches and discussions involving artists and activists, in a scene that embodied the spirit of international resistance. Police estimated the number of participants at around 50,000 protesters, while the organizers confirmed that the numbers exceeded expectations, turning Berlin into a real arena for the anti-imperialist and anti-Zionist voice.
The demonstration was called for by over 50 organizations and associations, including human rights organizations like Amnesty International in Germany and “Medico International,” alongside leftist parties and local forces. Protesters raised banners carrying revolutionary slogans such as: “Stop the genocide in Gaza” and “No weapons to Israel”, demanding an immediate halt to weapons exports to the Zionist entity and the imposition of sanctions against it.
✊ Participation of the Syrian Revolutionary Leftist Current
Comrades from the Syrian Revolutionary Leftist Current residing in Berlin participated in the demonstration and delivered a revolutionary speech emphasizing the centrality of the Palestinian cause in the global struggle against imperialism and capitalism. The following is the text of the speech:
We gather here today as part of the struggle of resistance, resistance against every system of oppression, every relation of exploitation, every structure of domination. The Palestinian cause is not an isolated question for one nation alone. It stands as a decisive front in the world struggle for liberation, bound by necessity to the liberation of all the oppressed. The chains that bind Palestine are imposed by the same imperial order that exploits workers and people everywhere.
We also know that within the international left, contradictions have appeared. We have seen separation, in the debates about how to fight for a free Palestine, The contradictions within the left are not weaknesses but opportunities, by confronting them, we learn from the Palestinian struggle and sharpen our fight against imperialism and capitalism.
They reveal the material conditions of struggle, offering a chance for analysis and critique.
We affirm here, without hesitation and without compromise: our support for the Palestinian resistance in all its forms is unconditional. We do not set terms for the oppressed to resist their oppressors. To resist is their right, their necessity, their dignity.
Today we see a notable shift: liberal and reformist forces, who long remained on the sidelines, have now stepped into the field of struggle. This change didn’t come on its own, it is the result of our people, who took to the streets, raised their voices, and made it impossible for silence to continue. However, we must be aware and do not allow them to shape the discourse around our movement, we should be aware not to risk being co-opted in their reformist discourses. Thus, from here, we call on solidarity with the organizers of the other demo and all its slogans. We are two different manifestations of the same cause.
As we all know “quantitative change leads to qualitative change.” Each protest, each disruption, each intervention, each act of solidarity contributes to our liberation.
Long live Palestine. Long live resistance. Long live international solidarity.
