Damascus _ front line
Local community sources and media outlets have circulated reports of a violent incident in Damascus’ Al-Duwayla neighborhood, where residents were brutally assaulted yesterday (Sunday) by militia elements affiliated with the so-called Internal Security Forces. The attackers also opened live fire on civilian homes and attacked residents.
Sources detailed that the incident began as “a dispute between a resident and several militia members, who proceeded to beat him.” The situation escalated when additional security patrols arrived and “assaulted civilian homes, terrorizing and humiliating residents.”
Photographs shared on social media document visible torture marks on a victim’s body, fueling widespread outrage among residents over “recurring abuses by security forces and arbitrary arrests.” Syrian authorities have issued no official statement regarding the incident.
This follows a recent spike in similar atrocities by Internal Security Forces militia, including an assault on civilians in Hama’s Al-Dhahiriya neighborhood during their intervention in a local dispute, where they committed further rights violations.
